Congratulations to Danish #2 Karen Barbat for her unconventional win last week. No matter what way she got there, it still counts as a "W"! HAT student Zoe Scandalis is making waves in NCAA women's tennis as she has earned the top spot as a freshman on the USC roster and earning Pac 12 Player of the Week honors in late January! Zoe is a class act and we are all rooting for her as she continues her college and professional career. We couldn't be prouder of you Zoe! Hard work beats talent, when talent does not work hard..... http://www.usctrojans.com/sports/w-tennis/spec-rel/012312aab.html Gai Ao fresh off of her 7 week stay at HAT played her first tournament back on Chinese soil and she came out firing making it to the 3rd round of the Main Draw as a qualifier! Ao who came to HAT injured and barely being able to last a single hour made big strides during her stay where she got healthy, stronger, improved technically/tactically and most importantly she learned how to be a confident leader. Look for big things to come from Ao this year and in the years to come! All the coaches and students at HAT are proud of Anshika for taking down her first Sectional Championship in Salt Lake City, Utah. The first of many! Also, congratulations to Ryan "Sponge Bob" Neale for competing in his very first Sectional. Look for big things to come in the near future for Ryan. HAT is excited to announce that the Pudong Tennis Team from Shanghai, China, and WTA player Karen Barbat have all confirmed their visits to HAT this winter. The Pudong Tennis Team http://www.pudongtennisclub.com/ is comprised of China's top Junior, ATP and WTA tour players. We spent a month with them this September in Shanghai look forward to working with them again starting December 10th for 6 weeks! Karen Barbat will be returning for her second stint at HAT accompanied this time by her brother Alex Barbat. Karen and Alex will be visiting for an extended training block starting January 3rd. HAT is excited to be bringing high level tennis to the state of Colorado. We look forward to giving our students at HAT the exposure to world class tennis, and to furthering the development and conditioning of the players visiting. Congratulations to all of the HAT team members who competed this weekend. Anshika "anastasia" Singh made the biggest splash making it to her first sectional tournament final at the Great Pumpkin Sectional Championships in Las Vagas. Also competing this weekend was Ryan "sponge bob" Neale who partnered with Henry Cox to take down the 12's doubles at the Major Mortgage Autumn Junior Classic Open in Grand Junction. Also a noteworthy performance by Emily "m&m" Untermeyer who competed in her very first sectional championships in Las Vegas. Emily booked her first win at the sectional level this weekend! Keep up the good work Team HAT!!! Anshika and I were happy to represent HAT at the 12th Annual CYTF Punk Relic Charity Tournament at Gates Tennis Center today, and we even happened to come home with a little hardware. HAT owners Ryan and Leslie Segelke have been invited to China during the month of September to help WTA and ITF Juniors with the Shanghai Tennis Team. During their time in China they will be working with Junior Tennis Players there and hope to have some of them visit High Altitude Tennis in Parker, Colorado in the next year. Big thanks to Steve Smith, Artiom Podgainii and Gregg Le Sueur at Tennissmith School for putting on a great week at camp! |
